The ALS-CAT5EJWP Lightning Protector provides superior lightning and surge protection for both indoor and

outdoor 10/100 Base-T Ethernet networks. In addition, the unit is compatible with 802.3af/at Power-overEthernet (PoE) devices. Integral to the design is protection for the four Ethernet data pairs and the PoE DC power

feed. The unit supports both modes A and B of the 802.3af/at standard for of supplying DC power.

This unit supports normal and reverse polarity PoE used in some legacy Cisco Access Points. The ALS-CAT5EJWP is

compatible with Wireless Access Points, Access Servers and Outdoor Routers, with or without Power-over-Ethernet

(PoE) functionality.

The unit features a low capacitance diode array that can withstand

large surge currents. The design utilizes a Thyristor diode which

switches to a low impedance state once triggered. This offers

superior power handling capability compared to TVS or Zener diode

based designs. The limits are +/- 58 volts on the four cable pairs.

This unit features a weatherproof ABS enclosure with gasketed cover

and concealed mounting holes. PG16 cable glands are provided on

the enclosure as well as an external ground clamp to provide a tie

point for earth ground. The PG16 cable glands are large enough to

pass a un-booted RJ45 connector through so pre-terminated cables

can be used.
