The Bt453 RAMDAC is designed specifically for high-resolution color graphics.

The Bt453 has a 256 x 24 color lookup table with triple 8-bit video D/A converters, supporting up to 259 simultanceous colors from a 16.8-million color palette. Three overly registers provide, for example, overlaying cursors, grids, menus. The MPU bus operates asynchronously to the video data, simplifying the design interface to the system.
